Oregon Food Bank Donations

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Lawry | de Freitas team reached out to begin monthly donations in the amount of $2,500 per month to the Oregon Food Bank, which continued through February of 2022.

Nick volunteered to coach his son Walt’s Fall T-Ball team through i9sports (i9sports.com) in Happy Valley

 

St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry:

Every 4th Saturday of the month Nick volunteers with his mother at the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry. The food pantry is a program which helps provide food to hungry families in the area.

Christ the King Christmas Food Box Project:

Nick de Freitas and his mother Janice de Freitas participated in the annual Christmas Food Box Project at Christ the King church in Milwaukie. Both Nick and his mom are involved with the food pantry which is run by volunteers of the St. Vincent de Paul Society through Christ the King Church.

Nick de Freitas and his childhood best friend, Jeff Tacheny, spend their fall and winter months giving back to their community through the Clackamas Cavs Youth Basketball Progam (Varsity Head Coach - Ryan King). Both Nick and Jeff came up through the Clackamas program when they were younger, and jumped at the opportunity to be part of it. They take great pride in knowing they are assisting their players develop the workethic, skills, and mental strength necessary to excell not only in sports, but life as well.

For the third consecutive year, Nick and Jon have supported the Friendly House in raising money for their many services they provide to the community.

Lake Oswego Farmer's Market - September 20th, and October 4th; Millennium Plaza Park

Jon and Nick participated in the City of Lake Oswego's Farmer's Market.

Lake Oswego Farmers' Market (LOFM) is a European style market that showcases some of the region's finest agricultural products. The Market boasts an average of over 80 vendors each week. Delight in finding a wide variety of produce, meats, nuts, cheeses, artisan breads, jams and jellies, baked goods, fresh seafood, nursery items, and hot foods--there is something for everyone!

Oregon Mission of Mercy - July 11th and 12th; Chemeketa Community College

Nick volunteered at the 5th annual Mission of Mercy event, hosted by the Oregon Dental Association at Chemeketa Community College.

Originating in Virginia and spreading throughout the United States, more than 50 Mission of Mercy (MOM) dental programs have been conducted since 2000 to provide free dental care to local residents who otherwise are unable to receive treatment.

The 2010 Oregon MOM program was the first Mission of Mercy event to be held on the West Coast. We provided care to the uninsured, the under-insured and anyone who otherwise has difficulty getting to a dentist. Those who showed up for care, adults and children, and didn't have any medically comprimising condition that would prohibit them from receiving care were seen on a first-come, first serve basis.


The American Lung Association, Reach the Beach - May 17th, 2014

Jon and his friends rode the 100 miles to the Oregon Coast, supporting the American Lung Association's mission of "Fighting for Air."

The American Lung Association's Reach The Beach - one of Oregon's premier cycling events - is now in its 24th year. Reach the Beach is perfect as a personal challenge or to ride together with friends and family. A top notch ride with amazing support that gives you four different start locations: Portland (100 mi), Newberg (80 mi), Amity (55 mi) or Grand Ronde (28 mi). We provide superb organization, beautiful routes, medical and mechanical support on course, eight lunch and snack stops and a magnificent beach party with a delicious, hearty feast. Reach the Beach is one of Oregon's premier cycling events. Spend the day exploring Oregon by bike.

Gay and Grey- October 26, 2013

Erica and Donny attended the Friendly House's 5th Annual Gay and Grey Expo at The Colony in St. Johns, OR. The Gay & Grey Expo is an annual dynamic outreach event for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) older adults and allies. Linda Campbell was the keynote speaker at this year's event. Night of Exploration - August 8, 2013

On August 8th, Jon and Nick attended MetLife's Elite Event at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. This event was a client appreciation event where our clients got to enjoy a private tour of the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall and an evening with guest speaker, Helen Thayer. Helen is an explorer and best-selling author, who became the first woman to travel solo to the North Pole.


Portland's Annual HRC Gala Dinner - July 27, 2013

On July 27th, Nick, Carrie, Jon and Erica attented the fourth annual Portland HRC Gala, supporting LGBT rights in Portland and SW Washington. The event was held at the Estates Gardens at Lewis and Clark College and featured many speakers such as US Sentor Jeff Merkley, 2009 Oscar Award Winner Dustin Lance Black, and comedian Dana Goldberg.(http://www.hrcportlandgala.org/index.html)

 

 


Portland Pride Festival and Parade - June 15th & 16th, 2013

Jon and Nick participated in the 2013 Northwest PRIDE Festival and walked with the HRC in the PRIDE Parade.

MetLife has been rated 100% in the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) Corporate Equality Index, ranks are based on a scale of 0-100 based on whether or not they have policies supporting LGBT employees. Jon and Nick are Federal Members of the HRC. (www.hrc.org)

Butterflies in the Park - Molly's Fund Fighting Lupus Fundraising Event - May 18th, 2013

Nick and Carrie participated in the Butterflies in the Park walk for Lupus Awareness at Oaks Park. Butterflies in the Park is the Molly's Fund Fighting Lupus 3K walk for lupus awareness. Monies raised through this walk will go directly to our efforts to inform the public and the medical community about lupus, support our client assistance program, push for earlier, life-saving diagnoses for those afflicted, and to spur governments and foundations to fund research toward a cure. Planning with Pride LGBT Panel Discussion with Lori Epstein - October 23rd, 2012

Jon and Nick hosted an LGBT panel discussion featuring Lori Epstein, Vice President of Advanced Markets with MetLife. In line with their committment to bringing MetLife's national resources for the LGBT Community to the local level, Jon and Nick invited Lori to fly out from New York to discuss planning concerns within the LGBT Community, including: Modern Families vs. Modern Laws, the Ever-Changing Political Landscape, Federal Issues as a Result of DOMA, and Retirement and Estate Planning Issues.

It has never been more critical to understand the changes and political repercussions that affect the LGBT community. The discussion served as a forum to ask questions, voice concerns, and learn more about the importance of planning as an LGBT couple or individual.

Jon and Nick participated in the PRIDE Northwest festival and parade in Portland, Oregon to support the local LGBT community.

MetLife has received a 100% rating on the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) Corporate Equality Index for nine consecutive years (2003-2012). Businesses are rated on a scale from 0 to 100, based on whether or not they have policies that support LGBT employees. Jon and Nick participated in the PRIDE Northwest festival and parade in Portland, Oregon to support the local LGBT community.

MetLife has received a 100% rating on the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) Corporate Equality Index for nine consecutive years (2003-2012). Businesses are rated on a scale from 0 to 100, based on whether or not they have policies that support LGBT employees. These include anti-discrimination protections, domestic partner benefits, diversity training and transgender-inclusive benefits.(http://www.hrc.org)
